Scotland is very famous for its beautiful scenery. There are mountains, valleys, lakes and houndreds of islands. The most famous lake is called Loch Ness. It is very deep and some people believe that a musterious creature lives at the bottom.
Ben Nevis is the highest mountine in Scotland and in Great Britan. It is 1343 metres high.
An important symbol of Scotland is ,,Tartan,,. Traditional tartan
skirts are called kilts and many Scots wear them-women and men.
Another Scottish symbol is the ,,Thistle,,. Thistles are plants. They are beautiful but they are very sharp too. An ancient story says that enemies from across the sea hurt their feet  on Scottish thistles. They quickly jumped back into their ships and sailed away.
Skottish people have an ancient language it called Gaelic. Some people in Scotland still speak it and they also use Gaelic words when they speak English. For example ,,loch,, means ,,lake,, and ,,ben,, means ,,mountain,,.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scottish capital city.
The city is located in the south east of Scotland. The city is divided into two parts, the Old and New Edinburgh. Edinburgh is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, because in edinburg is special architecture.
Every  year  3000000 tourists are visiting to Edinburgh.
Every summer Edinburg has a huge festival, and artists, poets, musicians and actors from all over the world go there. There is also special military show called ,,tattoo,, at the castle. Military bands play some very unusual musical instruments called bagpipes. There is a lot of music, dancing and fun at these festival.   

History
Skottish historty begins in about  10 000 years ago, when people first started settling in the area. Scotlands written history begins with Romans entering on the islend. Romma conquered England and Wales and called it Britania. Scotland was an independent state until the king James VI  took the throne of England, and become James I.

Mary, Queen of Scots

Mary Stuart was born in 08.12.1542. Her mother Mary Giuse was queen of Scotland and her father james V vas the king of Scotland. Her first husband was Francis I was the king of France. When Francis I died Mary Stuart left France and returned in Scotland. In Scotland she married again her second husband was lord Henry Darnley. After revolution she left Scotland and stampeded in England. She died in 08.02.1587
